I got the request to translate Makio’s magazines from Akari. It’s always great learning about more characters and Makio is actually my favorite from Cafe Parade so it was a good opportunity. Translations for both his regular issue and special issue magazines were completed.

Afterword

Afterword

Other than cleaning ghosts, I didn’t know too much about Amehiko. The Jazz Bar magazine is what I imagined Amehiko living through every day in terms of dealing with spirits.

The Horseback Gentlemen Idols magazine was a nice change of pace from the usual cleaning moments and we got to see a cute side of Amehiko.

As far as Cybernetics Wars 2, I can see why this event always gets so much exposure in the franchise. Everyone looks really cool and I actually want to watch the movies. My biggest struggle with translating this was probably trying to find all of their movie names. Thankfully, someone from the SideM Discord sent me the list from the SideM Eng Twitter.

There are a couple of things I want to go over regarding these magazines so I will eventually add a Notes page.

TL: SideM LOS Kaoru Idol Memory

As far as works that I translated on my own (and aren’t completely embarrassed by rereading), this is probably the oldest one that I have. It’s so old that I don’t think I made a proper post about it. Glad I can finally make this post.

This was translated for kido. Also, nerav helped provide the text for part 3 when I didn’t have it unlocked in my own game. All three parts are included below.

Considering we’re talking about those two, they put on a good performance.

Until now, I’ve always thought that the only way
to save a patient was by medical treatment
such as the latest medical equipment, expensively developed wonder drugs,
and finally, the skill of the doctor performing the treatment.

But, looking from a different aspect,
I think there may be a different approach
to save a patient, a way to give them the strength to live.

…After today’s stage was over, I thought that
the beginning of that approach could be idols.
Seeing the faces of all the patients made me think so.

Afterword

Overall, this started with a lot more medical jargon than I was expecting so I had some trouble at the beginning. Since this is one of my early translations, the wording is awkward in some places. I translated most of this quite literally, so I will not be making a Notes post.

Game Plan

Normally, I would be posting all my translations right now and writing up a bunch of TL notes but I wanted to explain my thoughts on how I plan to format this blog. Posts will mostly be separated into two categories: TL and Notes.

TL, short for “translation”, will be my complete translation of the work. On the other side will be Notes, which will explain if I did anything crazy like having to get creative and such.

If I do not make a Notes post for a certain TL, please do not hesitate to comment or contact me!

Still trying to figure out if I will try to be fancy or just play it nice and simple. Can vouch that there will constantly be edits made even to old posts to keep consistency within the whole blog. Looking forward to sharing with everyone!

Started learning Japanese in high school with anime as my main motivator. Continued in college and dabbled a little bit in both fansubbing and manga scanlation. Now I am currently translating on my own for fun.

I have been uploading my translations using a combo of Google Docs, Pastebin, and Twitter. Realizing that it became difficult to maintain and explain translations properly, I also thought about how I wanted a space where I could preserve my translations in a more organized fashion. Hence why I have started this blog.

My writing has never been the best during school so I am striving to improve that as well as explain translation from my perspective as an amateur. I am sure that this intro will evolve over time depending on how this blog progresses.

This blog will mostly focus on having my translations be posted as well as possible additional posts commenting on how and why I may have translated certain phrases. The additional posts will mostly be for those who are either interested in learning more Japanese or simply like reading TL notes. At least, I think so.

Translating will be from The iDOLM@STER SideM for the time being. Admittedly enough, SideM is actually not my favorite part of the franchise but I can acknowledge that it is the most underrated. I want to convey how great it is to the best of my ability with my translations.

I love The iDOLM@STER (aka iM@S) a lot. I would contribute my time to translating more parts of the franchise but I feel that there are many others who are both more capable and more dedicated for that. I try to translate items that I think others won’t pick up just so more content is finally out there.

Other than iM@S, I definitely also like anime. I have a lot listed on MyAnimeList. Maybe I will blog about a series one of these days but will be focusing on translation for now!

In case anyone noticed from the header, I also have an interest in mahjong. Hope people out there like Saki. If not, Akagi is also acceptable. ざわざわ
